August Social 2017: Normandy Farms Social was so fun, I forgot to take pictures….We had a crowd of 50 to enjoy the evening and the socializing. Old friends and New ones joined in conversation about business and activities in the industry. This may be an annual event, so look for our calendar of meetings, activities and education.
July Social 2017: PJ Whelihan’s in West Chester. It was hot ! and the connections were hotter. We had a great time connecting with various attendees and sharing summer activities. We will have another July social in 2018.
2017 SADV Annual Meeting: 12 X $1,000 scholarships were presented to our SADV young men and women. Because of the success of SADV events, supportive members and various sponsorships, SADV is able to share and pay it forward. It was a great night with recipients of the Albert Milani Scholarship, their support team and our members ! We announced the new Board Members (About US page) and recognized members since the 1980’s: USI Midatlantic, Haines & Kiddlehouse, Inc., B. Pietrini & Sons, Madison Concrete Construction Co. Plus, Kaplan Stewart who has worked with SADV for 40 yrs, United Rentals has been a member for 20 yrs and for the last 10 yrs CLifton Larson Allen LLP, Tracorp, Re-Steel Supply Co, Inc. and Schnabel Foundation Co. have all been members.
JUNE 2017: Beer@the Pier- It is always SUNNY in Philadelphia with SADV events ! The people, places and conversations !! New members, new connections and new business at a great venue. With SADV, you get great turnout and great business opportunities with all the FUN..
MAY 2017: C. Erickson was the GC Profile for our meeting. The SIP Topic of Active Shooter Awareness. Very scary, but appropriate for our time. Great information and connections for your business. Again, over 60 attendees and great participation. Food, Fun and conversation carried over to the networking part of our meeting.
MAY 2017 Breakfast with Benefits: “30 yrs experience, I learned 7 key points in 30 minutes” Blue Book and Business Development University shared their knowledge with our crowd. Take away, SADV is the best of both worlds and we compliment each other in value and benefits. APRIL 2017: SADV and GC/CM’s attended the presentation by Lorraine D’Angela, national recognized “X” BE attorney. Everyone in the audience learned compliance, risk and penalties. It is more than you think! It is in the details.
APRIL 2017 Breakfast with Benefits: Silica Standards an in-depth presented by Med-Tex Services Inc. Over 60 attendees learned more of the details from our March Monthly meeting. Expectations, risks and documentation.
MARCH 2017: Standing Room only for SADV meeting. BPI, SIP and Networking was attended by over 100. That is over 70% of participation from our membership. TORCON brought 15 individuals from their team. They had all PM from every job to interact with our subs, suppliers and vendors.
SADV Professional Showcase 2017: the Best of the Best- the men & women that work directly on the projects…. over 400 attendees came to celebrate these individuals and the industry…and had a great time while doing it…. JANUARY 2017: We started the year with a bang.. almost 100 attending the first meeting of the New Year. We introduced 12 new members and took roll call. BPI: Business Practices Interchange shared insight to 5 GC/CM. SIP: Subcontractors Information Panel discussed the new mechanic lien laws with Kaplan Stewart. GC Profile: IMC Construction Then, food and beverages and unbelievable networking.
DECEMBER 2016: SADV Pays it Forward to Kids Chance of PA. Many attended the night with friends, or significant others to enjoy the food, beverages and laughter. They opened their hearts and paid it forward to Kids Chance by donating $1175 towards the non-profit. A cause that gives scholarships to kids whose parents have been effected by a work related severe injury or loss of life. Please learn more about Kids Chance by www.kidschanceofpa.org
November 2016: SIP: Sub Information Panel: informed the audience of safety items and issues; Med-Tex, Sales Solutions and Worknet, all members. In addition, BPI: Business Practices Interchange where our members share experiences with GC/CM’s, change orders, payment terms and job site successes. GC/CM Profile: MidAtlantic Construction networked with attendees.
Clemens Construction Meet & Greet: WOW ! The night was a huge success with over 65 members and over 25 employees of Clemens. Face to Face connection with GC to Building Relationships NEW and OLD. A Members Only SADV Event
October Meeting 2016: SADV went simple on the evening; beer, wine and great food. No format, no speakers, just good ol’ fashion face to face interaction. It was a productive night with conversations between GC/CM’s, subs, suppliers and vendors.
SADV Famous Golf Outing 2016: There was a chill in the air, but the rain stayed away. Food, Fun, Friends, Laughs, business and prizes..and lots of refreshments !! September 2016: New format, New food and great people, a lot of information. SIP: Subs Information Panel– Bill Auxter of Kaplan Steward, Dennis Dougherty from Med-Tex and the funny accountant, Jeff Rieder of Wouch Maloney, discussed Wage Theft Law, OHSA Penalty increases and Mechanic Liens changes. Membership Spotlight was Madison Risk Group; GC Profile was Shoemaker. They shared projects in the future, bidding process and expectations.
WARFEL Meet & Greet: The Warfel Team hosted SADV attendees to a casual networking evening. Business cards and conversations to build relationships and opportunities for bids and business. Another successful night for SADV members !
SADV Celebration of Our Members 2016….Past, Present and Future. 10 x $1,000 scholarships given to high school graduates with promising futures. The Albert Milani Scholarship Recipients were embraced by the audience of over 100. In addition, we shared recognition of members since the 1970’s, members for 10, 20, 30 and 40 years. Also, Past Presidents, and the passing of the leadership from Jerry Moser to John Giovinazzo. We thank Jerry for all his time and commitment. We support John in his new role and guidance to a successful future for SADV and our members. It was a special evening for many reasons. In 2 years, SADV will be celebrating 50 yrs…..Last night was just a warm up!
June 23rd Beer @ the Pier 2016: Weather, venue and gathering. The fun was had by all – networking and socializing went on throughout the evening. Over 100 attendees and a million laughs. We are already planning for next year !
May 2016: Blue Rock Rocked It….Steve and his team of 6 came, supported SADV and shared information and opportunities. It was another highly attended meeting with CBIZ and M&T Bank had their moment as a Member Spotlight . Coffee Connection- For those that like it in the Morning ! We had a great turnout for our first Coffee Connection hosted by CBIZ. We had 20 individuals share coffee, bagels and fruit for a morning of networking and connecting. It’s another great opportunity for our members to interact and learn about each other – Subcontractors, Suppliers, Vendors and GC/CM. Our Membership committee hit one out of the park. Did I say it was FREE !?!
April 2016: Anne Fadullon, Director of Planning & Development for the City of Philadelphia. Anne came and conquered. She shared insights and updates to the direction of Philadelphia, the construction focus, and economic impact. The development of neighborhoods, community centers maintenance and a new focus on access to the Delaware River area from the city. Many participants left impressed and energized. There was a full house of subs, suppliers, vendors and various GC/CM’s.
March 2016: A & E Construction was the profile for the month. In addition to meeting the upper management team and learning about projects and processes of A & E Construction, our attendees/participants shared information in our BPI-Building Partnerships with Information. SADV allows you to Network and Build Relationships for Candid Conversations to help you make better decisions of who to work with, what to be prepared for when bidding a job, or the status of a current job and payment status throughout the process.

January 2016: University of Penn Medical over 60 people came dug themselves out from the weekend snow storm to attend the SADV Monthly meeting. Attendees learned about the procedures for bidding and special certifications needed to do work at their facilities.
Holiday- Pay It Forward Almost 100 attendees joined SADV & MACSC for our gathering to raise money for Philabundance. We raised enough to make 2, 890 meals for those in need. Thank you to everyone who joined us and donated for a worthy cause. See you next year !!
November Monthly Meeting: GC Profile of Clemens Construction which created a standing room only event. Over 70 attendees, reviewed BPI and met the Clemens construction team.
October Monthly Meeting: Over 80 attendees, subs, suppliers, vendors and GC/CM’s attended the SADV/CIC meeting. Doug Carney of CHOP was guest speaker. Doug shared current and future projects and how the subcontractors can work with CHOP.
BEST GOLF OUTING EVER !!! The Weather God’s were looking out for SADV. If you didn’t have fun that day, I am not sure why? The weather, the course, the drinks, the friends..oh and did I say the weather ! September Monthly Meeting: Tutor Perini Building Corp A great kick-off for the “new year” of monthly meetings. Our members were able to ask the tough questions and get some answers. BPI- Building Partners with Information shared facts and experiences with GC/CM’s to bid and to be cautious. Our attendance over 60 and very interactive.
June Monthly Meeting: Harkins Builders GC Profile With SADV’s success this past year, SADV was able to honor Eight (8) Albert Milani Scholarships to Seniors heading off to college or a trade school. Joe Milani, Albert’s nephew, helped to hand out the awards. And the students were surrounded by loved ones. It was a great night and a proud moment for all.
BEER @ the Pier: Morgan’s Pier was the Best time….so many turned out for a beautiful night and lots of fun. Just a casual setting with excitement all around. Over 100 attendees made up of members, prospective members and GC’s.
WARFEL Meet & Greet: It was a nice to mingle and converse with the Malvern office of Warfel. The Warfel group were great hosts to the SADV guests for the night. Opportunities to start and build relationships. New faces and old ones were in attendance.
May Monthly Meeting: Wohlsen Construction was the GC Profile. Great BPI sharing. In addition, we use our National Subcontractors Affiliation to help with GC’s throughout the country; Ohio, NY City, High Point, NC and others. We help our members get the right information on the GC’s.
APRIL CIC/SADV Meeting: Meeting the Workforce Needs: Hiring and Developing an Experience Team. On the panel with were joined by Oliver Fire Protection and Security, Skanska, Williamson Trade School, Recruiter, and Drexel University. The focus was the shortage of experienced trade labor form PM and Supers to laborers. Through this meeting SADV has partnered with Williamson Trade School and Drexel University CM Program. In addition, there is a program www.BLOCS.org to take your PA tax obligation and donate it to any school of your choosing. ( see Member News on our website for additional information. )
LF Driscoll Meet & Greet: Over 100 of SADV members had the opportunity to meet with over 25 upper management, department heads and staff at the new headquarters of LF Driscoll. LF Driscoll was a great host and everyone had a fabulous time. This event builds relationships and creates opportunities for all involved.
MARCH MANIA with SADV and our guest HSC Builders & CM: So many people, so much Networking….all feeling the pain of Villanova’s loss !! However, we all made the best of night, a lot of fun and a lot of partnerships being built. Over 60 guests and more with HSC reps in attendance.

Over 300 attendees, celebrated the night and enjoyed networking with old friends and new acquaintances. The room was filled with fun and excitement, and a lot of balloons !! We recognized Past Presidents, Charter Members, and Partners in Excellence Award. The most important were the Trades and those who do the work! The Best of the Best !! 35 individuals were surrounded by their employers, family and friends for one extraordinary evening…. We THANK our many sponsors and those who attended. December’s Holiday Gathering, 2015
SADV/MACSC partnered to Pay It Forward to PhilAbundance. The attendees from subs, safety reps, suppliers, vendors, manufactures, GC’s, CM’s and other guests. Over 90 people, came together to share conversation, laughs and to celebrate a prosperous year! They shared their success by donating to the food bank charity. We raised $2,750 which will provide over 5,500 meals in the Delaware Valley ! Thank you to those who opened their hearts and donated to make a difference in other people’s lives. We wish Everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous NEW YEAR !!

Over 50 attendees for the evening. Networking and participating in BPI: Building Partnerships with Information; peers sharing facts and experiences with GC/CM’s. SADV will be partnering with ASA of for legislative change on retainage for private projects. Stephen Rohrbach represented ASA and shared information. PJ Dick was our GC Profile; Gary Heinerichs, Wayne Schrader, Michael Flynn and Dave Silbaugh represented PJ Dick. They mingled with our members to have an opportunity to meet one on one.

Commercial Industry Collaboration (CIC)/SADV hosted SADV Members, Prospective Members and various GC/CM’s. The meeting was a panel format to present Diversity Requirements…..A Practical Discussion. James Sanders, Sr. Director of U.S. Dept. of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) was our Moderator; Luis Torrado, owner of Torrado Construction (SADV member); Angelo Perryman of Perryman Building; Kymmberli Stowe, Exec. Director of NAMC-Nat’l Assoc. Of Minority Contractors; Cherie DePiano, owner of CDP Construction (SADV Member). The feedback was great! A first step in discussions that will help lead all to succeed.
